Accident, EBBP, Figaro…
Wednesday, June 20th, 2007AB’s accident
There is so much going on in our lives at the moment, hence the slow flow of updates to the site. How ironical then, that I could take some time out this morning to write the blog because AB had an accident on his bicycle last night.
We have to go to see a specialist at the University of College London Hospital in a bit for consultation to his jaw injury.
I hope everyone takes care when going about the daily routines.
Childhood sweets
I took part in a parcel exchange called Euro Blogging By Post hosted by The Passionate Cook and my secret partner was Sebastien from rettet das mittagessen. I received a bounty of sweets and treats from Germany and Austria, and a kind note explaining their relevance. Golden chocolate coins must be a universal childhood memory…

Thank you very much, and I hope my exchange partner gets hers soon.
Insoles, Shanghai
These embroidered insoles came in my package from Seta. While I was at JP Books last Saturday, I noticed that the same style of insoles were on the cover of a travel issue of Madame Figaro.

It’s a Shanghai and China special. I love Figaro’s travel spreads - they cover interesting topics and manage to sort out highlights often missed by other conventional guide books.

Street food…

Lifestyle goods…

Bits and bobs
We received a surprise package from the Ando family on Monday. Very kind of them and it was a pleasant way to start the week. I will try to take photos of some of the contents later this week.
Picked up a back issue of Saveur last week. A food story on Singapore by a certain Benjamin Tan was what convinced me to buy it. These two pages have managed to stir up irrepressible pangs of homesickness.

Had to throw away my white Repetto Sophia shoes as the soles have given way. These gold ones in a different style are the replacements.

An unlikely eco-bag? This mesh one from Nike is convenient and light for carrying around in my bag, for unexpected shopping.

lis: The design and creative industry is very vibrant, but if you’re thinking of working for free, I’m sure you’ll find no lack of places to take you in. Where does your cousin work as a pastry chef?
deborah: 2008 is not such a long time away. I guess most people take at least a year to plan…
mj: I’m thinking of making banana cake tonight… Have to use up three left-over bananas.
chun: Try it and let me know what you think!
